I witnessed the erection of Captain Dildo many years ago… It was glorious.
Had lunch at The Barn Café – food was amazing and it was a beautiful site with chickens and goats
The staff was super friendly.
Yes! I’ve heard good things about the Barn Cafe. Those paninis look AMAZING!
When I was very young in primary school, we were given a coloring book about Newfoundland. In the book it was said Dildo was a name given to a type of pothead whale that was common in that area 🐋. I’m not sure if that’s true but it was published in the book and distributed to schools
Oh … that’s great! I’ll do some digging around and see if I can find anything in the folklore about that. Thanks!
I visited awhile ago but I recall it being beautiful and nice ppl, and arriving by boat from Nova Scotia. Being a young teen at the time, yes I inquired about the name to this cute guy nearby. He seemed shy but easy about it lol. It’d be cool to visit again.
We visited Dildo yesterday, May 29, 2022. I wish I’d have known about the Museum as we certainly would have dropped by. We were driving so didn’t stop for a brew either. Guess we could have picked up a growler to go!
Lovely little community and of course, took my picture with Captain Dildo!
Make sure you grab a meal at the Dildo Dory Grill. We always pop in from across the pond (UK) when we’re visiting our parents who live in Spaniards Bay. Right in cocky 😂
Good advice! I’ll be sure to check that out too!
I enjoyed reading the article and viewing the pictures. Would like to visit some time but am already a “pretty old duck” so who knows?
I highly recommend Dildo Newfoundland.
